Moons are classed into two independent classes according to their orbits: typical moons, that have prograde orbits (they orbit during the path of their planets' rotation) and lie near the plane of their equators, and irregular moons, whose orbits can be pro- or retrograde (in opposition to the route in their planets' rotation) and often lie at Seri
